It’s hard to believe that we have already completed one full term out
of the academic year. Year 11 have just finished their mock exams and
Year 7 can no longer claim that they are new. I always like to take this
opportunity to reflect on the last twelve months here at the academy
and what a year 2018 has been.

You will all be aware that over the last 6 months we have had major
building work going on right in the middle of the school. We are hoping
that this will be completed and that we can move in by February half
term. You can see some photographs of the development further down
in the newsletter. The students have been exceptionally patient during
this time as they have had to put up with a reduced recreation area and
at no time have they complained. They have been a credit to you.

2018 also saw Ofsted recognising the excellent work that goes on
within the academy. With staff working hard to ensure that your
children are taught well as well as providing a wide range of extended
activities for them throughout the year. We shared with Year 11 leavers
their excellent GCSE results in August and met up with them again to
celebrate with parents and friends at the Presentation Evening.

These along with all the events you will read about in this newsletter
have helped to make it a really successful year. So as we finish on
Friday 21st December, we will be celebrating not only Christmas, but
the achievements so far of the students still here at the academy. The
rewards assembly on the last day is always one to look forward to.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your continued
support and to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New
