Intent

The MFL curriculum will foster students´ knowledge and appreciation of languages and their respective culture. It will inspire them to want to explore the world and increase their global awareness.

The curriculum creates opportunities for all students to learn the language, developing linguistic competence in all four skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to speak spontaneously, share their ideas and develop their oral confidence. It will equip students with the ability to analyse language and will help to improve literacy skills.

It will provide students the opportunity to develop essential life and job skills including creativity, critical thinking, resilience, confidence, problem solving and independence.

Through music, films and literature, students will have access to the Spanish and French speaking world, and it will inspire them to think about global opportunities.
